The Hoboken Board of Education has formed a wellness committee and will draft a wellness policy, said board member Jean Marie Mitchell during a meeting on Tuesday night.
The committee will focus on food education, food choice, nutrition and exercise. They will also be working with a representative from Chartwells, the vendor who provides the food in Hoboken's public schools, according to Mitchell.
In March it became apparent that Hoboken didn't have a wellness committee or policy when one Hoboken mother spoke up about the lunch her daughter was eating. The committee had its first meeting, said Mitchell, adding that they also discussed how to educate parents on healthy nutrition.
