Buddy Valastro Opens New Bakery in Ridgewood
Cake Boss Buddy Valastro is expanding into New Jersey, opening bakeries in other towns.
The line to get into Carlo's Bakery now extends to Ridgewood.
Thas is where 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro opened his second Carlo's Bakery location Sunday morning.
Despite his aims to craft the Ridgewood location as less touristy than the original Hoboken store, the lines wrapped down the block. Fans glued their faces to the window while Buddy crafted Carlo's famous cakes with staff and family.
Ridgewood council and chamber of commerce members were on hand to cut the red ribbon with Valastro under the spectre of media cameras and television crews from TLC's hit show "Cake Boss".
"Ridgewood welcomed Cake Boss & his family to their new home in our community," Mayor Paul Aronsohn tweeted. "Great event. Great turnout. Great addition to our Village."
Valastro says he hopes to open another four locations in the area by the close of 2013, all modeled after the Ridgewood location. Success at 12 Wilsey Square is not necessarily guaranteed based on name recognition; a Starbucks couldn't hack it there a few years ago.
