City Spends Close to $100G on Police Overtime on LepreCon

All officers were on duty on March 3, during Hoboken's St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

The city spent $98,771.25 on police, emergency management and traffic cops on LepreCon, according to city documents.

The total number includes $95,897.85 in police overtime cost—the entire corps was on call that day—as well as $1,428.96 for emergency management and $1,444.44 for traffic cops.

Eighteen people were arrested on LepreCon, the St. Patrick's Day party that took place on March 3 in lieu of parade day celebrations, a significant drop from last year's numbers.

LepreCon's total cost is still unclear, because the amount of overtime to the fire and other city departments was not yet available. The cost seem to be in the same range as the parade days of the last couple of years, which exceeded $100,000

BRING BACK THE PARADE! I have read all the posts and have talked to many Hoboken residents and the common sentiment is Bring Back the Parade! The city spent $25k less then last year, huge savings! There were 50% less arrest and tickets and this was called a Big Win...I say Big Deal...there were 1/3 or 1/4th of the amount of people this year so this was not a big win for the city.

This is all about a Power Grab and showing who's in control. Zimmer has to look good to her base of supporters who are quality of lifers who will be upset with a saturday parade....so she can't bring back the parade for fear that she will upset them before an election.
What about the residents who like traditions and parades? They are voters as well...so the Mayor has a tough decision to make next year.
Chances are there will not be a parade on a saturday with the current administration...unless the St. Patrick's parade committee and the bar owners get together with the mayor and discuss additional options to improve the quality of life for Hoboken residents. The additional porto potties was a good start!

Good luck getting Jamie to contribute one penny towards the $100k in expenses!

Grafix I would agree that a compromise would need to happen. The differences without a parade were minimal and should not be used as a political theater.
The major problem with a saturday parade is the amount of people and house parties that get out of control.
Additional porto potties, same police staffing, bars opening at 11am, $2000 fines & house party fines. More advertising of zero tolerance.

Bringing the parade back is a matter of will. The mayor needs to want it back and the rest of the people involved need to cooperate.

QJ201 that has to be one of the most ridiculous comments! You want to pass a law immediately to prevent social networking from creating an event????
Do you really live in Russia? Haven't you seen what Facebook has done to countries with dictatorships???

Criticism is allowed. When residents speak out against the Mayor or her issues, they should not be slandered, defamed, harassed and name called. People can and should be civil.
You should be more careful yourself Hobbs, from time to time you get on the boarder of slander. Word to the wise be civil and stop the craziness of attacking everyone who disagrees with Zimmer and let the conversation just flow with the name calling. I can also put my name in the ring for name calling, and it is wrong.
But I do not slander people, just because I have a fake name and hate what they are saying. That is just wrong!

Graphic I have never seen you come to my defense as well, with all due respect.
In regard to your horseshit comment, your wrong. There are several lawsuits that have already won on libel and slander with regard to online blogging. The time is coming. Bloggers can't simple trash people with lies and think that it is OK.

Your group is a bunch of conspiracy theorist that everyone who is not in bed with Zimmer is part of some organized group that is paid to attack the mayor...your wrong. Old guard vs reformers.....it is all BS and Politics.

I may laugh occasionally with your websites posts, but I find you to be way over the top and down right nasty. So I really do not have any intention of sticking up for you. You created your own little blogging life. If you feel you need someone to stick up for you, well maybe you should stop writing such vicious and mean spirited blog messages.

Seems like a huge waste of time but if it makes you happy......

So Out of Control continues to post a 5 year old video. What OOC never mentions is that when Dawn realized what Frank was up to she dropped him like a hot potato. So what has Frank been doing for the past 5 years? He has been enthusiastically supporting OOC's side. So why does OOC omit that fact? Hypocrisy that is why. Also OOC wants 10,000 drunks to roam free around Hoboken causing mayhem. So who is out of control on this thread? Answer: OOC.

I think we have Grafix and khoboken so scared they're pooping in their panties. Ok - you got New Jersey defamation law all wrong but you know our motto - lie loudly and often, carry a little stick and always remember to say your a victim.

Let's say we're suing the FBI too. I'll bet they'll be as scared as Grafix and K. l

so grafix, do you believe no one has the right to sue for slander if someone makes up something about them and posts it on a website? sounds like you're saying that.
