City to Introduce Plan for Downtown NJ Transit Development
A finalized plan is scheduled to be presented to the city council next week.

The administration is planning to present the city council with a plan for the downtown New Jersey Transit site this upcoming week, according to City Spokesman Juan Melli.
The plan has been in the making for a while and multiple public meetings have been held on the topic.
Late July, Mayor Dawn Zimmer said that the city was close to introducing a finalized plan. This is what will be presented to the city council.
While NJ Transit had been ready to develop the first 1.8 acres of the site—which in total is roughly 52 acres—the city wanted to have a plan in place for the entirety first.

Previous NJ Transit plans for this very large site have been far out of scale with Hoboken.
Having a well thought out plan in place for the entire NJT site detailing what Hoboken would want to see built within it's borders will be essential foundation for any future discussions .

Once the city submits its final plan, is NJ Transit mandated to follow that plan? Or does NJ Transit have the authority to go ahead with their own plan ?

This plan to my understanding is to clearly define what Hoboken wants to see built.
It is a starting point and not a final plan.
If NJT thought they could build anything they wanted they would have started to build the skyscrapes they proposed.

Zimmer wont like their plan, so NJ transit will call Christie and nudge Zimmer. Remember NJ Transit has money and power, Zimmer was power (a little) and 0 money, whose going to win in the end?

They will try to go ahead w/ their own plan of course and we should do whatever it takes to stop them. They want to build some real big buildings that nobody who isn't on the take or seeking to "get what's theirs" wants in this town. They want to put 40 and 80 story buildings on parts of that site. Just imagine the traffic nightmares those buildings will create during and after their construction.

It has been reported that the ELECT reports filed by Councilman Occhipinti's handlers show an NJT excutive who does not live in the 4th Ward or even in Hoboken made large contributions to his political campaign.
Have to wonder why ? :-)
