Corner Cars Parking Spots Made Permanent

For the seventh time, the council discussed the issue. This time it passed in a 6-3 vote.

Hoboken City Council approved an ordinance on Wednesday night, that makes the Hertz Corner Cars parking spots permanent in a 6-3 vote.

The program was first launched in June 2010 and this was  

Third Ward Councilman Michael Russo changed his mind on the issue, , voting in favor of establishing permanent parking spots. The members of the council majority—Carol Marsh, Ravi Bhalla, David Mello, Peter Cunningham and Jennifer Giattino—also voted in favor of the program.

Traditionally, parking spots are created with ordinances. The former council majority preferred keeping the program, but with temporary parking spots by passing resolutions.

The goal of the city-wide car sharing program, is to take cars off the streets of Hoboken and eleviate the city's parking program.

With the passing of this ordiance, the program has officially been made permanent.
