Fifth Water Main Break in Five Days Reported in Uptown Hoboken

A water main break was reported early Monday morning, police said.

Following four water main breaks since Thursday morning, a fifth one was reported around 2:15 a.m. on Monday, police said.

This time the incident was reported at 1100 Grand St., according to police. The road was temporarily closed on Monday morning, but had been reopened by 2 p.m. according to police.

causing a sinkhole — which damaged a car — and flooding of surrounding basements.

Later that day, a 30 inch main was hit at the construction site at the 14th Street viaduct, resulting in city-wide water issues, including a boil water advisory, that lasted until Saturday afternoon.
