Exactly a hundred years ago, the first ever Oreos were sold in Hoboken.
But much has changed. Then, a batch of Oreos cost $.30, compared to the rougly $5 you'll pay for a pack of America's most famous cookies in Hoboken today. The cookies were produced on Manhattan and later sold to a grocer by the name of S. C. Theusen, according to a New York Times article on the matter.
Other awesome food items that first occured in Hoboken include the icecream cone and soft ice cream, according to the Hoboken Historical Museum.
According to a timeline by the Chicago Tribune, global oreo sales in 2011 were roughly $2 billion spread over more than 100 countries, quite a big shift from the 30 cents a pound from 100 years ago.
So tell us, how do you eat your Oreo?

Who cares about some 100 year old cookies. I want another crime report! Fights at McDonalds and Crimminal Coercion and bench warrants should be crime du jour for this week. I want variety! :) Just Kidding

Another area where Hoboken is moving in the wrong direction. A hundred years ago people came here to buy their cookies, now they come here to drink until they lose their cookies.
