Hey Hoboken, What Do You Want to Know?
Send us a question ... we'll get you an answer.
Have you ever wondered where a certain restaurant went on Garden Street and what's going to take its place? How many city officials have permits that allow them to park anywhere? Or why there always seems to be road work happening on Newark Street?
Well, so do we, and we're going to do something about it. But we can't do it without your help!
"You Ask … Patch Answers" is a weekly column for locals looking for solutions to community problems or issues. Everything from school news to potholes to eye-sores to local mysteries: Why has it taken so long for the Pier C park to open? Why don't parking meters here take dimes and nickels?
Why? WHY?! WHY?!?!
If you've got a question about something in Hoboken, send it to Claire Moses, clairem@patch.com, and our team of intrepid reporters will dig up an answer.
But wait, it gets better: If your question appears in our column you will receive a gift from Patch.
So e-mail us and check back on Mondays for "You Ask … Patch Answers."

Hey Claire, It's your old pal Elaine. I just rowed out to Hoboken this weekend from Pier 40 in Manhattan. This may be a question not worthy of your investigative powers, but why is the residential building that is owned by the Toll Brothers called Hudson Tea? Hope things are well!

Oh that's an easy one, I'll tackle it. Why "Hudson Tea Building"? Many erroneously think it is because from an airplane the building looks like a "T" but the real reason is the building is where on October 4, 2008 the first recognized local Tea Party meeting was held in Hoboken, with a massive turnout. As part of the event after a robust fireworks display a mini-recreation performance of the original Boston "Tea" Party was staged on the adjoining area of the "Hudson" River. Hence, this event at the building was dubbed "Hudson Tea", and the name stuck.
Just kidding. It used to be a Lipton Tea factory.

Hi . years ago We had Nickel & dimes stores, calle C.H Martin (one is the Square in JC) Kress,Nichols, and other retails store... Maybe you can find out if they will return. Hear Marshalls is coming to where Barns & nobles was . Now that's a good start..... We need some more Retail stores back in Hoboken like back in the days..... So that We don't have to go to others towns. And some more Less expensive restaurants , live Wendy's< Burger king, KFC, Popeye Chicken, Etc & get rid of some of the bars.. This is My question & opinion. Most of the Council were Here in Hoboken all there lives too. Hope they agree....
