History, Restaurants, Proximity to NYC Make Hoboken One of the State's 'Best Places to Live'

Did you know that Hoboken is closer to the West Village than the Upper East side? Daily News editor Jason Sheftell recently took a tour through the Mile Square.

We all knew it already, but now it's official: Hoboken is one of the best places to live.

In a new NJ TV television show, Daily News Editor Jason Sheftell takes a tour through the Mile Square, visiting places like Elysian Cafe, Truglios, the Hoboken Historical Museum and Madison Bar and Grill

He also takes a tour through the Hoboken Terminal, admiring the historic building with explanations from NJ Transit Representative Alan Krantz.

"This is really a world class historic structure," marveled Sheftell during his tour through the station.

Walking throught own, Sheftell dropped by Truglios meat market.

"This is like a time capsule!" Sheftell said. The interior of the meatshop is virtually unchanged since 1952.

"Every great neighborhood," Sheftell said, "deserves a Truglios."

On his walking tour through town, Sheftell looked for some amazing brownstones and dropped by Elysian Cafe. Owner Eugene Flinn, who also owns Amanda's, told Sheftell that Elysian was built in 1895 with the purpose of being a bar. It has functioned as such since then.

While Hoboken is a great place to live, the vignette by the Daily News’ Sheftell’s is nothing more than a real estate commercial masquerading as an information piece about our city. This publicity stunt starts with Sheftell stating "real estate, it's my passion" and pointing out the 'breathtaking million dollar views' in some Hoboken properties (that sell for 1.2mm as pointed out by the real estate agent that walks you through the property later in the piece.) They’re million dollar views, but you have to pay 1.2mm for them? At the opening of the clip we see that the piece is ‘brought to you by Coldwell Banker and KHovnanian Homes. The city should immediately remove the commercial from their website. Our city’s website should not be a tool for the commoditization of Hoboken.
