Hoboken residents and residents from the surrounding area dressed as Santa Claus came out to shop and celebrate "Ho Ho Hoboken!" the event was a community effort to help local small businesses that suffered from Hurricane Sandy.

Hobokenites decked out in their best Santa suits on Saturday, in an effort to celebrate the Mile Square's own version of SantaCon.

The pub crawl also turned into a stimulus for the local economy, said Rory Chadwick, an organizer of the event.

Usually pub crawls mostly benefit bars and restaurants, Chadwick said.

"Small Business Saturday was bad for many," Chadwick said, so he wanted to have "Ho Ho Hoboken" to replace that day. "I recreated the event to serve as a business day rather than just a SantaCon for drinking only."
