No Agreement on Police Contracts

Council, mayor discuss negotiations in closed-door session

Although Wednesday evening's Council meeting ended unusually early (9 p.m.!), Council members didn't leave the building until 11 p.m. due to a closed session about renegotiating contracts of the Hoboken Police Department.

The Council, together with Fiscal Monitor Judy Tripodi and Mayor Dawn Zimmer, are trying to reach a compromise with the police union.

But so far, "their issues are unresolved," said Corporate Council Michael Kates, who attended the closed session.

Kates said he was not at liberty to speak about what was discussed. Most information will remain confidential until Tripodi returns from vacation next week, Kates said.

Kates said also that there will likely be a meeting with Zimmer Thursday, where a representative committee will focus on the nitty gritty terms of the contract (which didn't really happen last night, Kates said).

Should Russo or Castellano be sitting at the table while her husband is a Police officer and Mike's two brothers are cops as well?
