Fate of 'Downtown Pub' Still Unknown, City Council to Vote on it Next Month

The City Council has postponed voting on the matter for two consecutive meetings.

The fate of a restaurant on the triangular lot between Paterson Avenue, Observer Highway and Jackson Street is still unclear.

An ordinance "granting a non-exclusive temporary revocable easement for certain encroachments within public right of way" has been on the agenda for at least two council meetings. The council hasn't yet voted on it.

The restaurant β€” which was built on the location of the former Downtown Pub and is owned by Hobokenite Danny Tattoli β€” went in front of the Zoning Board of Adjustment in March 2012.

Zoning violations have delayed the opening of the proposed restaurant, one of which is a four-feet encroachment onto the public right of way.

The restaurant is across the street from a surface parking lot, which Tattoli last year proposed to use for valet parking. That is the same lot, however, the city is trying to purchase to turn into a park.

The ordinance has been carried to the first council meeting in April.
