Hoboken Housing Authority To Vote on Mama Johnson Field Renovation
Housing Authority to approve an interlocal agreement with the city.
The Hoboken Housing Authority will vote on an interlocal agreement with the City of Hoboken to renovate Mama Johnson Field. The city has already approved the agreement.
The city council will contribute $600,000 to the renovations by ways of a bond it has already passed. The rest of the money for the renovations will be paid for by the HHA, said Housing Authority Commissioner Eduardo Gonzalez. He said the project will likely be about $1 million.
Fourth Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti, who introduced the interlocal agreement to the city council, has said that the field is supposed to be ready by spring 2012.
The field, which is in disrepair, has been in need of renovations for a long time.
Gonzalez said he is in favor of the interlocal agreement, but has some unanswered questions, about who is in charge of the concessions and how requests are made to use the field.
