A 40-year-old Hoboken man was the victim of an assault with a golf club on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The aggravated assault took place earlier in the day, when the victim—who, according to police, seemed intoxicated—showed up at his cousin's house at 311 Harrison St., police said.

The victim was met at the door, when his cousin told him he wasn't invited inside, police said.

The victim tried to get inside anyway, and was hit in the head, behind the left ear, with a golf club, police said. The 40-year-old victim suffered a laceration and a swelling, according to police reports.

The victim said he didn't want to sign the complaint, police said. The man was taken to teh Hoboken University Medical Center, police said.
