Hoboken Realtor Helps You Find The Perfect Match

Hoboken realtor plays “matchmaker” to potential customers.

Finding the perfect apartment can be just as difficult as finding "the one."

With hoboken realtor Kristin Ehrgott's help, it may be possible to find that perfect place (you'll still have to take care of the love stuff yourself). Ehrgott has started a website—HobokenHomeMatch.com, which she will officially unveil at a private party at the W Hotel on Thursday.

On the site, which had a soft launch on Friday, Ehrgott asks potential real estate buyers and sellers to answer an extensive questionnaire, in order to find the home or apartment that is theperfect match.

Questions start with the rudimentary. Do you want to own or rent? But it also gets personal. Do you need a roofdeck? Does the apartment have to be cat friendly?

After the questionnaires are filled out, Ehrgott finds listings in Hoboken and Jersey City and matches potential buyers and sellers as well as potential tenants and landlords.

While questions are being answered, a picture of a residence is shown to give people an idea of what is on the market. Ehrgott, a sales associate at Prudential Castle Point Realty on Washington Street, said the website is intended as a way of “approaching real estate in a different way” from other realtors to make her mark in Hoboken's real estate market.

There are at least 50 real estate agencies in Hoboken.

“It is very important that you really love where are you are going to live and have an emotional connection," she said.

Ehrgott started creating the website with a web designer back in November, when she began working at Castle Point Realty. The site, however, is Ehrgott's personal project. She said she will not be charging people for her "matchmaking." Her revenue will come from through commission from the rental and sales transactions she carries out.

The Hoboken resident sees HobokenHomeMatch.com as a culmination of her backgrounds in architectural photography, marketing and event planning. But more importantly, it helps her as an agent to not have to show off a list of homes based on just size, price or location.

“Someone who is an outdoors-type person will see a backyard or a terrace as important to them,” Ehrgott said. “That’s not something you will know in an initial conversation when they are looking for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom.” Ehrgott also said she sees the website as a helpful tool to cut down on taking clients on multiple appointments and focusing on the specific residences tailored to their needs.

Her website is not just for those looking for a new home but also for sellers and investors.

“I like to get more creative in the profiling of a property,” Ehrgott said. As far as any concerns about whether this website and the whole property matching concept will work in a tough real estate market, she thinks it will based on “developing relationships” and bringing a more personal touch to real estate.
