Hoboken School District to Receive Race to the Top Funding

Hoboken is among 372 school districts in the state who will get funding.

The Hoboken School district will receive $91,748 in Race to the Top funding from the New Jersey Department of Education. 

Hoboken is one of 372 local education agencies that applied for the funding. The state has made $38 million available to divide over the multiple school districts and charter schools across the state. 

Fifteen school districts in Hudson County will share roughly $3 million, of which Hoboken will receive nearly $92,000.

New Jersey was awarded approximately $38 million in December as part of the US Department of Education’s Race to the Top 3 competition. 

The school districts in Union City and Jersey City will be getting the largest chunks of the funding, respectively $478,289 and $1,239,627.

A budget for the 2012-2013 school year has been introduced to the School Board and discussed during public meetings before it will be approved.
