Hobokenite Offers 'Mommy Only' Cooking Classes
Nicole Jurick is starting her new business "Give Peas a Chance" later this month.
Hoboken parents who need a night out, have a new option.
Starting later this month, two Hoboken moms are offering healthy, organic cooking classes at uptown spot Cugini Kitchen.
It's a way for new parents to learn how to cook for their newborns, while socializing with other parents.
And one more thing: the babies aren't invited. As organizers Nicole Jurick and Suzanne Gallagher say on their website: "our classes are BYOB, because sometimes mommy needs a bottle too."
Cooking and the subsequent cleaning can take up a lot of time and energy for young parents, Jurick explained.
"It's intimidating," said Jurick, who's the mother of a newborn herself.
"We’re making it really fun," she said. "We don’t take it too seriously." She said the classes should be seen as a "fun night out."
It's also a way for young mothers — and fathers — to get to know each other.
"It’s a nice way to meet other moms," Jurick said.
Classes are $65 each or $180 for a package of three and will be held on Tuesday nights.
The first class will be held on February 26.
