Hoboken Gold & Diamonds will hold a "Jewel of the Mile" scavenger hunt, giving 50 lucky couples the chance to discover a hidden diamond worth more than $10,000.
Couples have until Feb. 4 to register for the scavenger hunt, which will take place Feb. 12. Hoboken Gold & Diamonds will then randomly select 50 couples to participate.
The couples will have to use their knowledge of Hoboken to decipher clues that lead them to the location of the hidden diamond. Hoboken Gold & Diamond will then offer to use the diamond to produce an engagement ring for the winning couple.
The jeweler has also enlisted other Hoboken businesses to contribute additional prizes. The Madison Bar & Grill will subtract 25% off the bill for hosting an engagement party or rehearsal dinner, the Spa Aura will pamper the bride on the day of her choice, Creative Groove Studio will teach the couple to dance in three lessons, and Carlo's Bake Shop will provide the couple a custom baked cake for their wedding day.
The couples who don't find the diamond will still be invited later to a reception where they will hear of special offers.
The registration fee is $20. For every couple that registers, Hoboken Gold and Diamond will donate $50 towards breast cancer research.

The Mayor Was There

As he would probably say, what the hell is this crap?
The lead singers of several classic heavy metal bands will sing their favorite Frank Sinatra songs on a compilation album to be released on March 28.
The album by the sex-drugs-and-rock'n'rollers is punfully titled Sin-atra, and will feature among others the lead singers of Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Anthrax, Queensryche and the legendary Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.
Of course Frank isn't around anymore to comment on the heavy metal singers taking on his songs, but we think he'd have the same reaction as when he met Billy Idol.
