Kids First Sweep in Board of Education Elections

Absentee votes included in the results, still waiting on provisional votes. Budget approved.

The full Kids First slate seems to have swept the Board of Education elections Tuesday and Hoboken voters approved the school budget.

The Hoboken City Clerk's office just released the results:

Irene Sobolov: 1,626 votes

Leon Gold: 1,464 votes

Rose Marie Markle: 1,322 votes

There is currently a 66 vote difference between Markle and John Madigan. It's unclear how many provisional votes there are, but it's unlikely that Madigan will be able to catch up.

Ken Howitt, who was running for the 1-year term, lost to Jean Marie Mitchell, 772 votes to 567.

A total of 4,982 people came out to vote for the Board of Education election.

There is in fact an update. After a recount and the results from the provisional votes, Rose Marie Markle is 13 votes ahead.
