Letter to the Editor: Assemblyman Ruben Ramos Jr.
The assemblyman speaks out in favor of marriage equality.
Dear Editor:
This past summer, Hoboken's waterfront was illuminated by the rainbow-colored lights of the Empire State Building when New York passed the most important piece of civil rights legislation in decades -- Marriage Equality. While we celebrated this important achievement, we were reminded that New Jersey is still a place where some loving couples aren’t afforded the same rights and privileges under the law as our friends inNew York.
While I have joined Democrats in the Legislature to extend same sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples in New Jersey, we have a very different tone in Trentonthese days. No matter what challenges arise, I will continue to fight for equal rights for the LGBT community to be treated equally. Their fight for marriage equality is my fight, too.
It has always been my belief that the government has no place in telling consenting adults who they can or cannot love. I cannot stand for policies that deny fundamental rights to an entire segment of our population. New Jersey must be a place for fairness, acceptance and equality under the law, and I will be working with my colleagues in the legislature to embrace these ideals and support marriage equality.
It is my sincere belief that our leaders in the Legislature, just like in New York, can, and must, work together to get achieve a true victory in the fight for marriage equality. Let’s get marriage equality done now and start giving consenting adults that want to enter into these meaningful relationships that rights they deserve.
Sincerely,
Ruben J. Ramos, Jr.
Assemblyman, 33rd District

It's great to hear from a politician whose democratic party ideals are sincere - not like our two faced mayor who tried to grab control of the party while sticking her ample nose up the governor's ample rear end, supporting screwing workers, supporting cuts that jeopardize women's health and then grandstanding on gay marriage hoping that people will be fooled into believing she's actually a democrat. I don't always agree with Representative Ramos but at least he's honest about who he is.
Ramos for Mayor in 2013!!

Magnus, I'm so glad Ruben Ramos showed up at the Mayor's State of the City address at Stevens last Wednesday night. He got to hear an impassioned plea for marriage equality from the Mayor herself. In the past, Ruben has adopted many of the Mayor's positions without attribution. I guess he just did it again. It's the right thing to do, Ruben...just try to come up with your own ideas and stay ahead of the curve once in a while.

Who had their picture taken with Obama? Me! Who has had over Senator Menendez over to my house for a fundraiser? Me! Who has bought more local Dems than anyone in Hoboken? Me!
Now you just turn on me like I'm chopped liver? No more kisses for you!

Nice to see Ruben get on Dawn's bandwagon. He was taking notes at Dawn's State of the City speech, and figured it sounded pretty good.
Wasn't it also Ruben's idea for the corner cars program? Oh no, that the Zimmer administration's initiative. You'd never know it from Ruben's flyers.

Yes, Rubin Ramos was born and raised in Hoboken's Culture of Corrption.
As we know Michele Russo wanted to be made head of the Hoboken Democratic party but she being the wife of a former mayor and convicted felon along with having the destinction of both she and her son having FBI tapes recording their own accepting of bribes made her too politivally toxic. So they put their boy Occhipinti's pupetmaster Jamie Cryan in place. Hmmm did Michele get her Union City job as a consolation prize ?
It is however good to see Mr. Ramos has issued a me too press release.

I'm sorry, I thought I heard someone say this guy was the one who didn't "supporting screwing workers, supporting cuts that jeopardize women's health".

So how does trying to aid the council minority in closing that pesky hospital and screwing the city of Hoboken with a $50+ million bill support women's health again? I'd rather have someone cavorting with the governor. When push came to shove, at least the Governor came through for this town.

The governor came through for his political benefactors. Stop kidding yourself. Or at the very least, stop trying to kid everyone else.
