Long Time High School Track Coach Not Re-Appointed
The stipends for the track and field coach were taken off the agenda on Tuesday night.
The Hoboken Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment and stipends of the district's coaches for the 2012-2013 school year during Tuesday night's meeting.
One name, however, wasn't included on an amended resolution the board members ultimately voted on: long time Cross Country Track Coach Judith Burrell was not reappointed.
Burrell, 48, also serves the district as a special education teacher and has worked for the district for the past 25 years. In April 2011, Burrell was appointed to the Hoboken Housing Authority.
In March, Burrell—a graduate of Hoboken High—traveled to the Penn Relays with a delegation from the high school. Burrell is
The track and field coaching position is now open to other district employees as well as outside candidates. Burrell's stipends, which totaled $14,500 according to an earlier version of Tuesday night's agenda, were taken off after the school board entered into a closed session.
Superintendent Mark Toback, in an email, said he couldn't say much about the situation.

why doesn't it generate excitement in hoboken? teachers with tenure can't be fired so the fact that the school board fired her from all of her coaching jobs is BIG news. you want to make it political then let's go there ... burrell is best friends with the school board president and cozy with city hall to get herself on the housing board but she can't keep her coaching job? somethings up...

As Ro is white & Burrell is African-American, the race card doesn't really make sense here. But that would not stop the perpetually politically desperate CuriousGal, Prosbus, OutOfControl, MadisonMonroe from making this a racial issue. Just look at what was made of moving the St Pats parade, ie, anti-Irish, Hibernaphobia, etc, etc. Drivel, but par for the course. At least *this* course.
It remains to be seen why Burrell was not re-appointed. The void will be filled with agenda-driven speculation. So it goes.

And Ro and the other kids first clan couldn't saveJB from the humiliation of being tossed out of the THREE track coaching jobs that she's had for years and years and years? What the heck did Burrell do to get so trashed by them? Must be pretty awful. she was on the agenda and then the board went into closed session and came out and fired her from coaching? that must mean that marty shannon the AD didn't fire her, the board fired her!!! Paula Ohaus actually quit twice before she was denied tenure. Now the drama is on the stage and not BOE meetings. I wish Paula well and if she learns how to follow School Rules (no more jammy jam sleepovers and manufactured crises that go to the media) I would almost be happy to see her come back. Almost.
The drama program goes on and the kids are now more involved since they can actually learn how to build sets rather than have a bunch of professionals do it for them. Sure, The sets might not be as polished but this is about the kids and not the ego of some HS theater director that is trying to win a Tony every play at taxpayer expense.

GA -- the story of what happened to Judy Burrell is all over the high school. I was told she skipped her special ed class 78 times last year, leaving her kids in the lurch time after time. Toback had no choice but to cancel her pay raise and strip her of her coaching jobs. He would've fired her if he could but she has tenure. The teachers over there are completely embarrassed by what she's done. She's a disgrace to the teaching profession and to Hoboken. And to think that she was the one leading the charge against Paula Ohaus, poisoning Kids First against an inspiring teacher who did absolutely nothing wrong, when all along she was the worst example of a bad teacher.

Thank you, Kim. Making statements like this prove to everyone's satisfaction that you are indeed a paid political operative.
Everyone else is blogging in realtime. There are no plans to reveal "more about this in the next few weeks."
But for paid political operatives, life is a never-ending campaign. You're stupid to reveal that you and the other ops are working on a "project" to further assassinate Ms Burrell's character in the hopes of mud-splashing KF in the process. But I guess you can't help yourself.
Why don't you consider giving some of your free time to being a mother to your child?

ThisMeansWar- Hoboken teacher, and Hoboken Housing Authority member Ms. Judith Burrell's (a.k.a. TCH.HS.05) professional character doesn't need assassinating....it simply requires full exposure.

So I'll take that as a 'no' on focusing on motherhood for once. Not surprised.
But what possible relevance does this have in Edgewater where you live? http://i46.tinypic.com/zvvgqq.jpg

ThisMeansWar- posting doctored graphics does not prove very much and it doesn't really divert attention away from the irresponsible, unprofessional, and unethical issues surrounding Ms. Burrell.

Prosbus and CG:
1. The graphics are not doctored. You know that.
2. What has Judith Burrell done. Please provide legal sources of the information which you have provided. Rumors (heard in closed board meeting, or expect to hear something next week, kicking up a dead thread) lead to either illegal acquisition of information, a known minority tactic, or just spreading rumors and lies, another known tactic.
3. What do you expect to get out of this? Even if Burrell steps down from the housing authority for whatever reason, Carmelo's buddy Branco will not be inserted, you will just get to feign righteous indignation when he gets passed over a third time.
