Mayor To Hold Second Annual State of the City Address

The Hoboken public is invited on Jan. 25 on the Stevens Campus.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer will deliver her second State of the City Address on Wednesday Jan. 25.

Just like last year, the mayor will deliver her speech at the DeBaun Auditorium on the Stevens campus.

Zimmer started the tradition last year, when she addressed the city's taxes, parks and an introduced a $20 million bond ordinance. She then also discussed discussed the city's response to the large amounts of snow last winter, something that has not been on anyone's mind this year.

Some of the major issues of the past year that the mayor may discuss could include the sale of the Hoboken University Medical Center as well as an update on the city's parks.

Last year, Zimmer discussed 1600 Park, the next park that is supposed to be opened in the Fall of 2012.

Which topics would YOU like the mayor to address?

I would like to know when the $20MM Bonding for New Parks will be discussed. When is the Mayor going to buy something and start building a Park?

They are going to buy that land on the west side when it's cleaned up. I think it's called Cognos Henkel. They are negotiating to buy land in the southwest too.

Then the green light came in on Sinatra and that's a big one going out for RFP for those repairs.

No doubt this will all make you even more unhappy. LOL

I would like to hear her rationale for why she could not negotiate to save the Hoboken St Patrick's Day parade.

I would like to hear the rationale for why...
Lane Bajardi has NEVER appeared in an ELEC report for Beth Mason or Tim Occhipinti. He appears in this midnight video for Occhipinti's campaign leaders. http://www.hobokenhorse.com/2010/10/grist-for-mill-midnight-monday-meeting.html
Is he credited in Beth Mason's IRS filings? Does he credit her in his tax forms?

HQ, give the spin a rest. Your unilaterally mean spirited, politically motivated stab in the dark attacks (with a little sugar on top) just drift further and further away from reality, and are an insult to those whose rights have been abridged (or worse) by drunken violence on parade day. To reiterate, it is the parade committee that decided to abandon the parade, and they did so quite publicly.

So P1ywood - my asking why the Mayor would not negotiate to save the parade is according to you "a mean spirited, politically motivated stab in the dark attack? WOW...just asking a simple question like that? You have to be kidding me right? I used to think that at least some of your commentary was reasonable but you just jumped right over the cliff on that one. Are you suggesting that it is wrong to even question the mayor on this one? To quote your own kind you are looking like a paid shill.

I takes two parties to negotiate. I read the Committee's press release. It did not sound like they had any desire to negotiate.

Journey, with all due respect, the mayor had made her decision last March. There was nothing to negotiate.

Hob Questioner, so obvious you are stabbing in the dark to attack the mayor. The parade committee cancelled the parade. That's about the fourth time I've notice you failing to admit that. An out of control dangerous drinking event is something that has to be dealt with, not ignored. You miss that reality as well. Your projecting accusations that others are being paid grow tedious.

I'd be happy to hear why all of her appointments have connections to central/south Jersey power politicians.

Really all of her appointments. She has a bunch of directors she appointed. Tell us more about Leo Pellegrini and his connection to central/south Jersey. LOL

You used to have at least half witted semi-plausible lies ooc. What happened you ran out of material and can't even come up with any new lies?

She goes bonkers over these imaginary central/south Jersey folks she sees behind every tree and kisses the ground Jaime Cryan walks on even though he comes from a long line shady politicos.

As opposed to the Hudson County/North Jersey Power Politicians? Maybe there's less corruption.

So you're able to pick out the one who isn't controlled by her power broker benefactors.
Why not talk about the lawyers, BA, Environmental Services, Insurance brokers, Workers Comp lawyers, engineers, bond counsel...should I go on? Just connect the dots, moron. Even a simpleton like you can figure it out.

Since you are the one alleging they are up to no good, then it is you who needs to prove your claims. Nobody seems to be controlling any of these people. But I will say that the one thing I have seen is a surprising and long overdue level of competence from the people she has brought in. I may not agree w/ all her polices, but unlike her predecessors, Zimmer doesn't hire incompetent fools, retarded relatives of cronies or crooks. BTW, I just love how you named at least a few people on your little list who actually have tried to save this city money like the insurance broker, the bond counsel, the lawyers, etc... Surprised you didn't put Sacs on that list b/c we all know you hate that man. I think you are the simpleton Ms. Outofhermind.

I don't know Mr. Cryan, but I'm pretty sure he's not draining millions of dollars from our taxes the way the Zimmer lawyers have been doing since she got elected. He doesn't appear to be on the payroll so your attempt to liken him to the parasites around your mayor just doesn't add up. You're getting desperate.

Because not hiring lawyers or hiring poor lawyers to protect Hoboken's interests saves money? Umm, OK.

Maybe she can review the policy that allows law firms to go a half million dollars over DO NOT EXCEED thresholds? That would be good to hear about.

And please, save the "they saved us so much money" line of garbage-- if the firm wanted to work on a % basis, they should have had it written in their contract.

You know very little about the law. Ask Rick Mason the last time he worked on a % of money saved basis in a bankruptcy.

Hoboken is pleased with the outcome to save the hospital and spare the residents a price tag upwards toward $100 million dollars.

Of course the Bajadiaye clan is unhappy and if you weren't something would truly be wrong. If it's a big one win for Hoboken that makes you very, very unhappy.

So Hoboken has won big and your benefactor Beth Mason is equally unhappy.
We're good with that.

Eric are you suggesting that professionals experienced in running municipal departments have worked in municipalities before?

.
Frankly I find this assertion a little too convenient. Go get him Kim, you don’t look at all silly doing this.

And add to that, she's going elsewhere in state than Hudson county...Why can't we just take the old people that we had like John Corea and Patrick Ricciardi, they seem to be really on the up and up. Maybe we should give Ma Russo a job within the city, I haven't heard any complaints about her work for Brian Stack.
