Mistake Made in Fire Fighters' Retro Pay

Mayor Dawn Zimmer provided an update to the city website.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer, in an update on the city website, announced that a mistake has been made in calculating the retro pay for the firefighters

"The calculation for retroactive pay for our firefighters was very complicated and was done incorrectly. We made a mistake and all efforts are being made to redo the calculations and resolve the error as quickly as possible," Zimmer wrote on the site.

While not going into detail, the accounting error has been fixed, said spokesman Juan Melli on Wednesday night. He said he didn't know how how much the difference was.

Some firefighters got too little, while some got too much pay. The issue will be resolved when the next checks go out, he said.

Let's be clear-- SOMEONE knows what the mistake was and SOMEONE knows how much money is involved. Hopefully, details will emerge soon--

C'mon Curious, do you really expect her to be forthcoming? She only posted that much info because the word has been all over the street since last week. Fact is she know EXACTLY who made the mistake and the union has told her EXACTLY how much is involved. She doesn't want anyone to know that it was one of her appointments that screwed up nor will she admit that both she and her BA signed off on a payroll that was bogus.

I'll take an honest mistake especially one that gets fixed over the dishonest people you support and the dishonest things they do any day of the week.

Honest mistake or incompetence, whoever made the mistake needs to find a job somewhere else. I'm not paying for someone to learn on the job. Dawn needs to name the name of the person who made the mistake and that person needs to either resign or get harassed and locked out of their office when they go out to lunch. That's how its done with the Zimmer administration, right? Just have her close her eyes and make believe her appointment was born in Hoboken.

1) Pencils have erasers. It's not an attempt to cheat, it's an error and being corrected.

2) You're an idiot.

oh jeez, are you trying to free up a job so your hubby can apply? I mean I get it, you don't want him hanging around as much as he does but guess what we don't want him around us either

Nothing is done by pencils anymore cupcake, its all spreadsheets. Yes, its an error and the time to check it was BEFORE it was signed and approved. This will be a good lesson for the person but they need to be removed from their position immediately for incompetence and find a job back in central new jersey. Don't let the door hit you on the way out--

Well then it couldn't have been Georgie. He doesn't use spreadsheets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n3U_x247yQ

But you don't seem to object to his comic lack of even the most basic competence. Because you are a MASSIVE hypocrite. But so far you aren't a felon, unlike...
Lane Bajardi, who has NEVER appeared in an ELEC report for Beth Mason or Tim Occhipinti. He appears in this midnight video for Occhipinti's campaign leaders. http://www.hobokenhorse.com/2010/10/grist-for-mill-midnight-monday-meeting.html
Is he credited in Beth Mason's IRS filings? Does he credit her in his tax forms?

Once upon a time I worked the Technical Customer service desk for a software company that wrote Cash Management software. Numerous banks private labeled the software for their customers to use. It let them use a computer to do APC (Automatic Payments and Collections), wire transfers, and all kinds of cash management stuff.

I often got calls from payroll or membership departments because someone made an error.

Such as did the payroll was by user error done as a collection not a payment.
The gym membership was run twice in billing cycle.
While trying to cancel the payment for one fired employee, they canceled the who payroll.

Sure computers make it harder to miss add the numbers, but if their is error in the formula that you are using, it is much harder to spot the error. People trust their spreadsheets, they way they do not trust themselves.

So someone should be fired for one mistake? An error in formula is not like breaking the law.

ThisMeansNancy- the dude needs to get fired. Even if they are not from Hoboken. Incompetence does not need to be rewarded. There are plenty of qualified people who can handle "complicated" accounting without causing this travesty. Can't wait until we find out their name. Can you?

Kim,

Just because you post under multiple screen names, does not mean that everyone does.

There are certain accusations that your side throws out, that are dead give away tells about how you operate.

Funny houw curiouslyobtusegal now wants competent finance people to do the accounting at city hall when she works for someone who when it comes to finance is a complete moron and can't even accurately cite the city's surplus or understand basic financial statements. How about we fire Mason first.
