Nanny Charged with Child Abuse Arrested in New York

A 22-year-old nanny allegedly abused a child in Hoboken in August, according to police reports.

Dechen Kyiden, who was hired by a Hoboken couple to babysit their son last summer, has been arrested and charged with child abuse an endangering the welfare of a child, according to a New York City Police Department Spokeswoman. 

According to the NYPD, the 22-year-old Kyiden was arrested on Feb. 22, on Manhattan's Pearl Street. 

Last summer, Kyiden was hired through sittercity.com by a Hoboken couple living in Maxwell Place to baby sit their 6-month old boy, according to Hoboken police.

In August 2011, the couple reported to police that the nanny had slapped the child and dropped him, police said. The abuse was captured on a nanny-cam, according to police reports. 

Kyiden has been extradited back to New Jersey, according to the NYPD, and the case will be handled by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
