Party With Purpose Gives Race Money to Boys & Girls Club
The non-profit's annual charity 5k race netted $9,000 for the community group.
The hundreds of runners who sweated this past summer during the annual Party With Purpose 5k race finally saw their hard work pay off on Monday afternoon. The non-profit group donated proceeds from the race, over $9,000, to the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County.
Party With Purpose presented the check during the Boys & Girls Club's annual Thanksgiving dinner at the gym located on Jefferson Street.
The dinner fed more than 100 children and 35 Party With Purpose volunteers. Local supermarket Garden of Eden provided the meal, which included turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, string beans and juice. According to Melissa Gitlitz, who organized the event, Party With Purpose purchased the food by holding a fundraiser weeks before.
After the meal, Boys & Girls Club executive director Gary Greenberg accepted the enlarged foam core and paper check.
“We all have so much to be thankful for,” Greenberg said to the children. “These people from the community are here to help because they care about us so much.”
“Thank you for letting us come and hang out with you,” Party With Purpose founder Scott Delea next told the children. Delea said the donated money could be used for the programs, like computer and photography classes, that the kids enjoy the most.
Delea and the Party With Purpose volunteers posed for photos with Greenberg and the big check, and then it was time for desert. Ben & Jerry's donated ice cream.
Delea said he also hoped to inspire the children. “We hope you'll grow up and give back some day, and help the next generation of kids,” he said.

This is impressive. One question though. Why is the money going to the county and not Hoboken's Boys and Girls Club?

FAP, that is a typo, the check in the picture is made out to Hoboken for $9000, not the county.

Well the county chapter runs the Hoboken club, right? So does it matter who the check is made out to? Even if it were made out to the county, that doesn't mean it can't be specifically directed at the donor's direction to the Hoboken B&G club. Donors to charitable causes routinely specifically direct how their donations can be used.

I could be wrong but I thought the Hoboken B&G club was run by a local board.

I think it is run out of the admin offices for the Hudson County B&G Club. There appears to be a Hoboken B&G club advisory board and a board of trustees at the Hudson County level. Not sure what the specific powers of the 2 boards at 2 different levels are but looks like it is essentially a subsidiary of the Hudson County B&G club.

Looks like Scott still thinks he can be a viable Mason-Russo candidate. Like what Grafix Avenger Russo source said about him:

Called him a "real gasbag." That is when he isn't stealing for his campaign fliers.
Of course Scott Delea who got himself a nice line on the resume with a senior role in the Boys & Girls Club didn't say a word to defend the kids who were being bounced out for the HoLa school.
Lots of tax problems there and nothing but silence "for the kids," from Scott Delea.
No surprise when these eager faces sell out to the corrupt Mason-Russo clan.

Great job Scott and Party with Purpose. The countless hours of commitment that you and your team dedicate to producing these events is impressive. The amount of money that Party with Purpose raises each year for Hoboken charities is something to be proud of. Keep up the good work.
