Patch Picks: Best Places to Buy Roses for Valentine's Day

Every week, Patch picks the best in Hoboken.

Every week Patch picks the best in Hoboken. Whether it's the best place to get a cup of coffee, or best place to take a date, we'll tell you about the Mile Square's finest (in no particular order, of course). This week: Patch picks the best places to buy roses for Valentine's Day:

Gentlemen, you have help to make sure you come home bearing gifts Monday on Valentine's Day. Hoboken has many great florists that sell roses located all over the city. Patch Picks called all of them asking for the price of a dozen roses.

Keep in mind all of these florists offer various packages with more or less roses, vase or no vase, different decorative arrangements and so forth. These prices are what the shops reported for a typical 12 rose V-Day arrangement. All of the shops can accommodate your budget and provide the nicest bouquet possible for your buck.

As a general rule, plan ahead. Visit in-person or on the web to get a better sense of what each shop offers. Make reservations in advance so that an empty supply doesn't leave you empty-handed on Monday.

  • All Occasion Florist, 617 Willow Ave, is selling a dozen roses with decorations for $89.95. Their delivery fee within Hoboken is $5.00.
  • John the Florist, 155 4th Street, has different rose packages ranging from $65-85.
  • Flowers by Diane, 109 2nd Street, has a roses package complete with hearts and ribbons, plus free delivery, for $105.
  • Hoboken West End Florist, 601 Jefferson Street, has a long stem rose and vase package for $97.95. They have mixed packages of flowers starting at $25.
  • Vera's Florist, 14 Paterson Ave, starts their standard package for $79.95. But for $99.99 you can get that same dozen roses, plus a teddy bear and a box of chocolates.
  • Cut 1 Floral Designs, 359 3rd Street, has a standard package for $50, and a premium package for $85. They also have more modestly decorated set for $35. They offer free delivery, but you must spend at least $50 for the service.
  • Beethoven's Veranda is selling their roses for $49.99 plus a vase. Their delivery fee is $15. A selection of roses plus tulips runs for $89.
  • If you are commuting from the Hoboken Terminal, check for day-of deals at the Lovely Flower Shop, which has a stand outside the main waiting room.

So there you have it. If you're looking to get your loved one roses for Valentine's Day, these are what the local shops offer. Spend what you feel comfortable. Whether you spring for top-of-the-line or something more modest, it's the thought that counts.

P.S.: remember to write a sweet note on the card.

My daughter ordered flowers from All Ocasion for her friends baby shower.
They were delivered on time ( to Bayonne) and they were beautiful.
