Former IT Official Pleads Guilty to Intercepting Mayor's Emails

Patrick Ricciardi, 46, was for allegedly leaking confidential information in November 2011 by the FBI.

Former IT official Patrick Ricciardi plead guilty to intercepting emails meant for the mayor of Hoboken and top city officials and passing some of those communications on to other officials, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

In November 2011, Ricciardi, 46, was arrested and charged with leaking confidential information.

"Ricciardi admitted he used his access to set up the email accounts of the mayor and two of the mayor’s top lieutenants so all of their incoming and sent emails would be sent to the archive folder," Fishman said.

Ricciardi was charged in November 2011 in a federal criminal complaint with one count each of accessing a computer without authorization, interception of wire and electronic communications, and disclosure of intercepted wire and electronic communications.

He also admitted that he read some of the emails in order to spy on the mayor and her assistants, and forwarded them to other current and former city officials.

According to court testimony by Ricciardi's former assistant, Jonathan Cummins, those officials were identified as former public safety director Angel Alicea and current Fire Chief Richard Blohm.

Through the complaint and court procedures, it became clear that in April 2011, Ricciardi created an archive file on his work computer to intercept and store all emails sent to and from the mayor and certain of the mayor’s employees.

Ricciardi is scheduled to be sentenced on July 1, 2013.

Scott,

Hector Claveria once appointed by Mayor Zimmer to the HHA and then arrested for selling apts. does that make her corrupt? She and Frank Raia gave away lottery tickets in exchange for Absentee votes when she ran for council...to generalize people into groups is simply political. How about you worry about whats going on in your own city, where did you move to? I know your not in Hoboken anyone but still care so much you Zimmer puppet.

Ricciardi is facing three counts and five years for each. Who else will be connected to the conspiracy and face the music is the million dollar question?

MSV has posted the full release from the US Attorney's Office and related links on the story:

KF: Hector I believe received unanimous support from the council. To compare $1 lottery tickets (one time) to an continual army of 750 paid workers who almost all use the VBM process does not compute. Mayors Russo and Camaranno, John Corea, Patrick, Michael Schaefer, plus others indicted. The scale weighs heavily on your side.

Not true, Scotty. Check into the vote that got Frank appointed to the Sewer Authority.
It was a Zimmer councilperson who put him over the top.

This is what Mayor Zimmer faced when she came to City Hall. Spied upon by the holdover Director of IT, stonewalled by Team Russo/Mason in Council Chambers, fighting to save our hospital from fiscal collapse, bullied by her own police department, where even today, the Chief of Police is suing her in federal court for $2,800. Yet, she has persevered and succeeded.

Cleaning up City Hall is hard, often thankless work. Mayor Zimmer has been more than up to the task.

OOC: It is true. How was dawn supposed to0 know that Alicea met with Dwek? I never said she was a mind reader. In regards to frank, did dawn vote for him? NO! He also ran Timmy's VBM farm harvesting campaign and got smacked with a criminal affidavit. If they were as tight as you claim, why did he support Tim? The answer: You are once again spinning out of control.

Scott,
As much as I hate responding to your posts,LIES debunked become the truth. Dawn not only voted for Frank Raia she enthusiastically supported and campaigned with Frank 4 years ago for in his bid for freeholder against both Anthony Romano and Inez Kiem. What is a criminal affidavit? Angel is my friend, He was great on the HHA Board when Dawn replaced him with Hector and also served this city proudly as a School Board Member and finally as PSD. Scott, one sure thing, Angel like other directors, was fired because of failing grades on the Zimmer loyalty test not a well know and publicized meeting with Dwek.

Perry 4 years ago is ancient history. Dawn woke up and realized who she was dealing with. There were 5 criminal affidavits by Frank and a Beth Mason paid operative. Angel was called to the council dais about the Dwek meeting and then recused. Within a week he was gone. it had absolutely nothing to do with Dawn, in fact he supported her. I remember during the last Ward 5 race running into you. You knew about Angel's meeting and were relieved that it finally came out. Again Frank supported Tim not Lenz.

"4 years is ancient history" is the funniest line ever! That is all the zimmer bloggers ever do is bring up the past every day. Russo this and that....Mama russo this and that...old guard this and that....The past is the past I agree, so let's all agree that Frank Raia helped created Dawn Zimmer and I hear that he is trying his best to work with her again! Let's see how Zimmer fanatics feel when they have Frank helping Dawn yet again!

Hi perry

Can you tell where Mr aliceas meeting with dwek was publicized? He told the JJ he never met with Dwek. Are you saying Zimmer should have known he was lying because you knew and thought it was OK because all your friends had met with Dwek?

Putting aside the bitterness of the Old Guard people here turning on Raia who did not receive any vote from the mayor for the NHSA, there's more to the real story at hand.

Patrick Ricciadi cooperated with federal authorities. More on that and happy nightmares minions. You will not get any information from MSV. Updates/links/video:

Didn't this scumbag also win a cheap apartment over at the Metrostop in some kind of "workforce housing" boondoggle?

Funny how that works out isn't it? $10 says that was part of his payment for services rendered and services to be provided in the future.

I want to work for a company that get's you a half-price apartment just because you're an employee. How awesome would that be? You *never* have to pay that other half back even if you're fired or move on to another job in a year. You can sell it and pocket the difference. Hey, who doesn't like a $200,000 payday?

Your tax dollars at work.

Roman,
Frank Raia is my friend! I am not turning on him. I am correcting attempts to distort history. Frank was reappointed to the NHSA, where he continues to serve with distinction, by the ZimmerAdministration. Dave Mello was the deciding vote.

Sorry Perry those beautiful hair follicles are clogging your memory again. Dave was NOT the deciding vote. He was the 6th vote in a 6-3 vote on a Council controlled by your bff's with Beth Mason as CC pres. The other 5 votes were Mason, Giacchi, Occhipinti, Russo and Castellano. His vote, while surprising to many, was of no importance whatsoever. I'm sure you will now correct your attempt to distort history.

Perry, that's a backhanded attempt to not only distort history but to strike at Frank Raia. Understandable as he is not backing your candidate for mayor but let's keep the facts accurate.

It was the Old Guard council voting to approve Raia to the NHSA as Dave Mello's was the sixth and superfluous.

The more I think about 2009 I clearly remember Dawn shutting down her campaign for 2 critical weeks in April to support Kids First. Who was their opponent? A Frank Raia led slate that was defeated. That is the main context I can remember. The other was Dawn speaking of Frank, when she recalled his VBM game and that she would never get involved with someone like that again.

Scott Demo,
Let's see if I have this straight, after regaining the 4th ward council seat, Dawn blew off Raia after she campaigned with him during his Freeholder run because she had concerns over misuse of VBMs, previously know as Absentee Ballots, which were the source of both her victory and resignation in her first 4th ward election. Despite Dawn delayed absentee ballot epiphany, Councilman at large, Dave Mello maintained a relationship with Raia that caused him to vote for his reappointment to the NHSA. Sounds like good cop, bad cop to me. Maybe Dave Liebler, Raia's former campaign manger, has insights Dawn isn't sharing. I wonder!

My post where not regarding Frank Raia but duplicitous Zimmer Zombies who explain away all faults with this administration but deny the same kindness to others.
