Police: Reports Of Shots Fired From A Car In Hoboken
A driver led police officers from multiple agencies on a chase through southwest Hoboken and a caller reported hearing shots fired on the street, reports said.
Hoboken police received reports of shots fired from a car that had been leading other law enforcement agencies on a chase through the city's southwest Sunday evening, according to police reports.
Around 5:50 p.m., Hoboken police were called to help search for a tan Infiniti sedan that had sped off during a traffic stop with Port Authority police at 18th Street and Jersey Avenue in Jersey City, reports said.
NJ Transit officers had followed the car to the area of 6th and Monroe Streets where the 50-year-old driver went up over the curb and hit a street sign, reports said. They had lost sight of the car at 6th and Adams Streets, reports said.
Ten minutes later, an anonymous caller told a dispatcher that several gunshots were fired from a car with the same description at 5th and Jackson Streets, reports said.
Hoboken police could not find shell casings, and pedestrians in the area said they hadn't seen the car or heard gunshots, reports said.
Officers searched for the driver at his address on 6th Street in Hoboken, but his daughter said he had not lived there for some time, reports said.
