The Quality of Life Coalition presented its sixth annual slate of Hoboken Thanksgiving Awards during a reception Wednesday night at the Hoboken Historical Museum.

The Coalition honored Valerie D'Antonio with its Community Service Award; Mark Singleton with the Community Awareness Award for his work with the homeless; Jason Scott and Chris Viola, owners of the Taco Truck, with the Green Award; and the late Marjorie Laue, an avid gardener, with the Environmental Award.

The Quality of Life Coalition began the awards in 2005 to honor Hobokenites for their volunteer service to the city.

“These awards provide an opportunity for the Hoboken community to bring its many-times unspoken expressions of thanks and gratitude to full voice,” said QLC coordinator Helen Manogue.

This year the Coalition bestowed the Green Award for the first time. Scott and Viola have donated profits from their business to help the city's program to plant hundreds of new trees throughout Hoboken.

"We are very honored to be recognized by the QLC for our Tacos for Trees campaign," Scott said. "We hope we inspire other Hoboken businesses to give back and make Hoboken a better place for all of its residents."
