Two Rapes Reported; One Still Under Investigation

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Two rapes were reported to the Hoboken Police Department on the day of the Hoboken St. Patrick's Day parade, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

One victim, said Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Debbie Simon, did not want to pursue any action but required a medical check up. This incident took place on late Friday night until the early hours of Saturday, Simon said.

The second case, in which the victim is a 23-year-old female, Simon said, is still under investigation and happened on Saturday afternoon.

Simon could not say how quickly the investigation would go, because the prosecutor's office is still looking for video footage and potential witnesses. No arrests were made in either case.

At the Hoboken police department, officers were still plowing through the many police reports from Saturday.

On Monday afternoon, Mayor Dawn Zimmer sent out a release confirming the assault.

"These allegations are extremely serious," Zimmer said in the release. "I want to assure the public that my Administration is in the process of conducting a complete review of this year’s event and will be making recommendations to the City Council as to how to move forward next year."
