Rotary to Party, Raise Money on Saturday
The club, celebrating its 90th anniversary, will raise money for the Boys & Girls Club
The Hoboken Rotary Club is set to celebrate its 90th anniversary, and heed its motto of “Service Above Self” with a big bash at Stevens on Saturday night. The local chapter of the international organization was founded on November 01, 1921.
The Rotary will have its party at the Bissinger room in the Howe Center on the Stevens campus beginning at 6pm. Guests will enjoy dinner, a four-hour open bar, live music and a keynote speech by 2001-02 Rotary International president Richard King.
A few tickets to the party are still available, at a price of $125. The Rotary is also selling $1 tickets to a 50/50 raffle, and will donate its half of the proceeds towards refurbishing the multi-purpose room and the bathrooms of the Boys & Girls Club building at 123 Jefferson Street. Anyone, whether they attend the party or not, can purchase raffle rickets through the Rotary's website, with all tickets eligible to win. Tickets will remain on sale until 3pm on Saturday.
Ticket purchasers can also sponsor for $10 a dictionary which the Rotary will donate to a local student. The Rotary donates dictionaries to every third-grade student in Hoboken in conjunction with its annual citywide spelling bee of fourth grade students.
Several Hoboken Rotarians will also be honored during the party for their community service.
