Ten Miles of Bike Lanes To Be Added to Streets of Hoboken

Roughly 20 bike enthusiasts attended Wednesday night's council meeting.

The City Council unanimously approved ten additional miles of bike lanes to be installed in the city of Hoboken on Wednesday night. Roughly 80 percent of the city's streets will now have bike lanes, according to a press release from the city after the vote.

Roughly 20 bike enthusiasts attended Wednesday night's meeting, all wearing their helmets.

"This is good for everybody," said Jim Vance, a council meeting frequenter and a fervent biker.

Josh Meyers—not wearing a helmet, but one of the founders of Bike Hoboken—has lived in Hoboken for the past four years and said he was very happy about the addition of bike lanes on both wide and narrow streets in town.

He said that the bikers present all wore helmets out of solidarity.

Brian Wagner, 45, said he owns two bikes and is selling his car. His bike, he added, is how he travels through Hoboken.
