Two Hoboken Men Arrested After Foot Pursuit

The two were caught during a burglary Monday night.

Hoboken police arrested two men Monday night who allegedly were trying to break into cars parked on a private parking lot at 1000 Clinton St., according to a police report about the incident.

Alexander Cruz, 20, and a 16-year-old were both arrested and charged with burglary, theft of moveable property and resisting arrest, according to police. At least three cars on the lot looked burglarized, according to the report.

The men took a total of five cell phone chargers and GPS systems from the cars, according to the police. Altogether, the items stolen were worth $705, according to the police report.

When a police officer arrived at the Clinton Street parking lot where the men were burglarizing cars and identified himself, Cruz and his 16-year-old accomplice ran away, according to the police report. Police said they ordered the two men to stop, but they didn't comply and kept running through the lot, around parked vehicles.

One of the officers scaled a fence, and they were able to catch the men and take them to Police Headquarters.
