“I said, 'we should start a comic book,'” Hudson recalls.

The book is called Paper Dudes, and it's full of characters with cool names like Hammerfist and Hornspiker, each of who can do super things like shoot laser beams.

Hudson is himself a character in Paper Dudes, as is his dog Otis.

“I like taking reality and fiction and mixing it up,” he says.

Together with his friend and their parents, Hudson had the comic copied and bound. They sold copies to friends and donated all the proceeds towards relief efforts after the Japanese earthquake.

“I very happy and proud,” Hudson says about Paper Dudes being able to help.

Hudson's favorite comic is the Japanese series Naruto. He's got the entire collection and reads them all the time.

“I'm just really inspired by that,” he says.

Hudson reads a lot other books too. He's a good student, with his favorite subjects being science and history. He's entering the third-grade of the HoLa Dual Language School, where classes are taught in both English and Spanish.

“You actually learn Spanish,” he says.

When he's not drawing or doing homework, Hudson takes tae kwon do.

“I asked Santa for a kickboxing bag, and he actually gave it to me,” he says.

Hudson says he might want to be a doctor when he gets older, but he knows that whatever he does he can always do his favorite activity.

“I can still draw and make comics,” he says.
