Would You Like the St. Patrick's Day Parade Back? [POLL]
The question was raised on Wednesday night. What do you think?
For the second year in a row, the Hoboken St. Patrick's Day parade will not be held.
The parade was was cancelled by the parade committee in 2011, after the city wanted to move the event to a weekday in wake of sexual assaults and multiple arrests.
There has been no discussion to hold the parade on a Saturday, said Business Administrator Quentin Wiest on Wednesday.
LepreCon, a bar crawl instead of the parade, has been scheduled for March 2.
"We did away with the only family oriented part of the day," said councilman Michael Russo.
Just like last year, the city is planning to hold an Irish Festival in March to celebrate the holiday.
We want to hear from you. Would you like the parade back on a Saturday or are you happy with the way things are? Let us know in our poll.

Definitely not . . . Can't imagine why anyone who cares about Hoboken's quality of life, image and property values would want to have an event that attracts lowlifes to our community.

Yep bring it back. It's one day a year, and well, it's like a one day Mardi Gras. New Orleans has no problem with this sort of thing for the entire season prior to lent, and its good for business. Can't see why Hoboken can't handle it for a day....
