CuriousGal are you quoting your old friend Passkey or is your old friend Whiteshirt? PasskeyRead More February 04, 2012 at 10:48 PM Anyone else see a pattern here? It goes as follows: A) Zimmer/KF gets caught being anything but open, transparent, competent, etc... B) Bloggers/KF/Zimmer supporters put out attacks belittling or questioning the source of the initial report or ad hominem attacks on anyone who criticizes KF C) Said controversy hopefully recedes, and KF/Zimmer wins points among its committed followers for standing up to the forces "assailing them" Geri Ceballos- when they make personal attacks at you then it means they have nothing of substance to say. http://hoboken.patch.com/groups/schools/p/problems-at-the-boys-and-girls-club whiteshirt February 18, 2011 at 08:31 am Anyone else see a pattern here? Abbott classroom
Kathy Zucker July 1, 2013 at 09:44 pm
In 2013-14, the Hoboken Abbott program will have the largest # of classrooms ever. So yes, itRead More appears education officials did not anticipate the enormous surge in applications that resulted in large #s of denials. They are telling parents that usually everyone receives a spot by the second week of school when students fail to show.

My daughter was accepted in brandt school for Pk-3 this fall. Can anyone tell me who's the teacherRead More in room 109? The school clerk & child's study team is unable to provide me with a name at this time.

I'm appalled by the unfairness here. New Jersey doesn't provide free preschool to kids in workingRead More class towns like Belleville, Clifton, Bloomfield, and Rahway, but it provides "free" preschool to Hoboken? Why should the child of highly-educated, high-income professionals get "free" preschool but not whose parents barely make ends meet? Hoboken is a RICH town. You have over $11 billion in property valuation. If you want preschool pay for it yourselves. I am absolutely sick of this.

It will get to the point where only big chain stores can survive ridiculous Washington St. rents.
Kathy Zucker June 15, 2013 at 06:25 pm
At $72 PSF, Washington Street rents are definitely not cheap, as per this listing for an 875 SFRead More space at 7th St (http://bit.ly/1bHLorW). Manhattan was recently cited by Business News Daily as having the most expensive commercial real estate in the United States, averaging $114 PSF – the Hoboken market typically rises or falls in lockstep with NYC. http://bit.ly/ZSKKWA

Washington St's biggest competition isn't having a Baby Gap, it’s Manhattan, online shopping,Read More and Jersey malls. The primary customers are Hoboken residents and the success of Hoboken shops and restaurants depends on supporting the needs of the residents. Stores like the Baby Gap and Anthropologie will be good for other Hoboken businesses because these stores will help keep residents looking for goods in Hoboken. Same concept behind malls and auto dealers. From another perspective, Landlords need credit-quality tenants that will pay on time. It’s risky to go with a mom/pop despite the “feel-good” and local flavor, when there is an equally interested brand store wanting the same space. Maxwell's is closing because the owner is tired. He said the new rent wasn't an issue. Parking wasn’t a real issue: the mayor offered parking solutions before he even asked for it.
