Wednesday in Hoboken: Police Toy Drive, Talk by "Ingenious" Author

*The Hoboken Police Department encourages residents to stop by headquarters and drop off an unwrapped gift as part of the department's second annual "Fill the Bus" toy drive, which runs from 11. a.m. to 7 p.m. 

*Jason Fagone, author of "Ingenious," which tells the stories of people building electric cars against long odds, will be speaking about those vehicles Wednesday at Hoboken MakerBar, 38 Jackson St., at 7 p.m. Inventor Kevin Smith and the 207-MPGe electric car he built out of junkyard parts and steel he forged in a wood-burning stove will also be there.

*A free weekly stand-up showcase continues Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Room 84 in downtown Hoboken. The show will feature a mix of some of the finest local talent including comics who have been featured on Letterman, Conan and Comedy Central. There's a two drink minimum.

*HOPES CAP will hold a career-oriented community workshop on Customer Service Wednesday at the Hopes Family Resource Center, 532 Jackson St.
