Wednesday in Hoboken: Special Election, Stress Reduction Seminar

Let us help you plan your day.

*Don't forget to vote in Wednesday's special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Frank Lautenberg, who died in June at the age of 89. The election pits Newark Mayor Cory Booker against former Bogota Mayor and Tea Party darling Steve Lonegan. The winner will serve out the remainder of Lautenberg's term — approximately 13 months — before the seat goes up for grabs again next November. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find your polling location here.

*The Hoboken Public Library will hold a stress reduction seminar Wednesday with Jim Rose, a retired senior executive of Johnson & Johnson, who will discuss the effect of meditation on reducing stress-related responses, improving concentration and enhance clarity of thought and mental equilibrium. The event begins at 7 p.m.

*Mayor Dawn Zimmer will hold a campaign fund-raiser Wednesday night at Studio E418 on the fourth floor of the Monroe Center, located at 720 Monroe St. The event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

*A free weekly stand-up showcase continues Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Room 84 in downtown Hoboken. After tonight's show there will be an open mic starting at 10:30pm. There's a two drink minimum.
