“It is a great honor to be recognized by the USGBC and to become LEED-Platinum certified,” says Lawrence Bijou, managing partner of Bijou Properties.  “Edge Lofts has been designed and built to raise the bar for sustainable design and building practices in Hudson County and beyond.  It is an excellent example of how urban buildings can promote a cleaner, healthier lifestyle for residents while positively impacting the environment.  We’re proud of this important achievement which reflects the company’s dedication to green building leadership.”

Designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects, Edge Lofts features a distinctive brick- and-glass exterior.  The south façade will be covered by a living wall of ivy to provide thermal, acoustical and aesthetic benefits, while architectural sunshades reduce direct sun absorption at the southern corners.  The building’s 35 residences -- which are fully leased -- include fresh air filtration systems, open cell spray foam insulation for maximum air and moisture control, superior sound insulation, zero VOC paint, reclaimed antique oak flooring, kitchen and bathroom tiles made with recycled contents, and Frigidaire Energy Star® appliances.  The building is also Energy Star® Certified and is a 100% smoke-free environment.
