SOLOWAYS FIND PERFECT HOME FOR THEIR NEW FAMILYAT MADOX RENTAL BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN JERSEY CITY

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Two years ago with their first child on the way, Michael Soloway and his wife Courtney decided it was time to escape the crowds and congestion of New York City for a quieter, more intimate neighborhood across the Hudson River.

“While we were a little priced out of Manhattan, our main reason for moving was to find a better community to start our family,” Mr. Soloway says.

The couple originally settled  into a two-bedroom rental at The Majestic, a mid-sized residential building on Grove and Montgomery Streets in Jersey City, NJ.  Unfortunately, after just one year living in the home, the Soloways were required to move once again.

“Our landlords got pregnant and informed us they would be occupying the home,” Mr. Soloway recalls.  “So we started our search all over.”

Wanting to remain in Jersey City, the couple looked at a mix of new construction buildings and old brownstones in downtown Jersey City and the historic Hamilton Park and Paulus Hook neighborhoods.

“We wanted a home with few stairs so we narrowed our search to elevator buildings and some older brownstones,” Mr. Soloway says.  “We also wanted a boutique building that had a close-knit feel instead of a larger apartment building that had no personal atmosphere.”

After visiting a number of buildings on their own, no apartment stood out from the rest.  That all changed when Mrs. Soloway discovered Madox, a LEED Silver certified collection of 131 upscale rental homes in Jersey City’s Paulus Hook.

“As soon as my wife saw Madox she was enamored with it,” Mr. Soloway says.  “We would end up visiting Madox six or seven times to show family and friends before deciding to rent.”

From the moment they stepped inside the seven-story building, the world-class amenities at Madox stood out to the Soloways.

“The lobby was absolutely gorgeous with its wood décor, grand chandelier and elegant tables,” points out Mr. Soloway. ”The outdoor rooftop with BBQ was also outstanding particularly since it had direct access from an elevator.  And the indoor children’s playroom and landscaped courtyard with outdoor play area were extremely important since we have small child and have come in very handy on rainy days.”

The Soloways also appreciated the many benefits of living in a luxurious new construction building at Madox.

“Everything is new so all the appliances are state-of-the-art and you have all modern touches such as hardwood floors that extend continuously into the elegant hallways,” he says.  “The design of the homes themselves provides spacious living areas which are perfect for a growing family.”

The Soloways moved into their new two-bedroom with den home in mid-May.  While they’d been familiar with Jersey City, they’ve been pleased to discover the many attributes of Paulus Hook.

“It’s a great neighborhood for families as evidence by the large number of strollers on the streets,” says Mr. Soloway.  “All of the local restaurants are extremely family friendly and there’s certainly plenty to do.”

Over 80% of Madox’s homes are now occupied, a number that’s expected to grow significantly within the next month with new apartments being reserved daily at the building, which is ideally located just blocks from PATH Trains, ferry service to New York City and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.  What’s more, nearly 100 leases have already been signed at Madox.

Situated at 198 Van Vorst Street, Madox features a collection of studio, one- and two-bedroom residences and a host of upscale amenities including considerable landscaped outdoor space, as well as 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.  Some one-and two-bedroom homes also feature additional dens, a significant advantage for young couples looking to grow a family or single professionals hoping to add a roommate without increasing their monthly rents by fully upgrading to a larger size apartment.

Madox residents also enjoy a host of onsite modern amenities and services, including a keyless entry system, 24-hour doorman, state-of-the art gym, a lobby lounge with a library, business center and communal technology table with iPad Station, iMac and PC; and a resident’s-only lounge with children’s play area, yoga room, kitchenette, two TVs and more.

Madox offers an abundance of outdoor space with a landscaped courtyard with outdoor children’s play area, café seating and benches, two common 8th floor terraces and common roof deck with hammocks, natural gas fired BBQ, fire pit, lounges for sun bathing and magnificent views of NYC, Marina, Statue of Liberty.  Valet garage parking and bicycle storage will also be available.

Priced from around the $1,800s, the well-designed residences at Madox will offer from 480 to1,312 square feet of luxury living space, along with a considerable array of high-end amenities and finishes.   Found throughout the homes will be custom hardwood floors, 9 foot ceilings, washer/dryer in every home, and master baths with custom vanities and tile.  Gourmet kitchens will feature custom 42” cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, gas cooking, Caesarstone countertops, tile floor and backsplash, and designer lighting and fixtures.

Earlier this year, Madox became the first residential development in Jersey City to be awarded LEED® Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Madox is being built in accordance with U.S. Green Building Council guidelines for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings which incorporate responsible site development, energy efficient design and sustainable materials to create environmentally-sensitive urban living environments.

Madox will also boast a 100% smoke-free environment, a unique lifestyle feature that is one of the first of its kind in New Jersey and a rarity in the New York Metropolitan marketplace.
