UNDERGROUND COMEDY CLUB @ ROOM 84 EVERY WED NIGHT

Downtown Hoboken is about to get a lot funnier. Jersey City Comedy Festival founder Craig Mahoney is proud to present a new weekly stand-up showcase beginning 8pm Wednesday, October 18th at Room 84 (84 Washington St). Every Wednesday the local nightspot will be transformed into the Underground Comedy Club and host a free show featuring a mix of some of the finest local Hudson County talent, as well as hot up-and-coming working comics from New York City who've been seen on Letterman, Conan, MTV, Comedy Central, and more.
"I've been producing shows throughout Hoboken and Jersey City for the past two years now", explains Mahoney, "and, while they've all been great, one of the problems with the area is the dearth of true perfomance spaces suited to the art of stand-up. The thing that has me truly excited about Room 84 is that, each and every Wednesday, we will be transforming the entire place into a true comedy club. In (Room 84 owner) Joseph Branco, I'm happy to have a venue owner committed to putting on a really great show and bringing some of the finest comedic talent over from New York. It's a gorgeous club with a great atmosphere, and we're going to give local residents something I think they'll really enjoy."
The shows will all be free of charge, with a two drink minimum. Mahoney will produce and play host each week to a different group of some of the area's finest stand-up comics. In addition to bringing over talent from New York, each show will also feature at least one or two comedians who call Hudson County home to give it some local flavor. "The aim is to provide local residents with a true Manhattan comedy club experience without them having to cross the river or pay a cover", says Mahoney, "And I think we're going to be very successful at it."
The lineup of comedians for the first show is: Chris Calogero (Opie & Anthony), Mike Cannon (MTV's Failosophy and Money From Strangers), Regina DeCicco (Ladies Of Laughter and The Laughing Skull Festival), Alexis Guerreros ("Show Me Your Bits" podcast), Kate Hendricks (Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and Caroline's), and Matt Kelly (Jersey City Comedy Festival).Β
