Fundraisers Abound As Hoboken Recovers From Sandy
Here's a list of some of the events coming up in December.
Fundraisers are a sure sign of the holiday season. They're on the upswing this year as Hoboken works to recover from Hurricane Sandy. Here are some of the events coming up in December:
- The Hoboken Historical Museum is having an online Holiday Auction fundraiser. This year, some of the proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy relief. The bidding begins Saturday, December 8 at 6 p.m.
- Restore Our Shore, a Jersey Shore recovery group, will host a benefit and silent auction at City Bistro on Monday, December 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. There is a $25 entry fee and guests will receive one free drink ticket and complimentary hors d'eouvres.
- Make your meals count with Dine InDeed, a non-profit that is working with Hoboken restaurants to support local organizations for children, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County which was flooded during Hurricane Sandy. Participating establishments donate a portion of your bill on special days. Check out this week's schedule at facebook.com/dineindeed.
- The folks behind Hoboken's SantaCon are taking a different approach this year. "Ho Ho Ho 4 Hoboken" will take place on Saturday, December 22 from 2 to 9 p.m. and is being billed as a day for shopping, eating and drinking - Mile Square City style. All proceeds from "beat the line" passes and other Ho Ho Ho-themed merchandise will be donated to the Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund.
