Heaviest Snowfall Expected to Stay South

Northern New Jersey may dodge the worst of the latest winter storm.

A fierce storm, originally projected to dump more than a foot of snow in the area, is now expected to hit South Jersey the hardest and produce no more than 8 inches in northern parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm watch has been issued for most of North Jersey with 4 to 8 inches expected by Monday morning, the NWS reported. Snow, which may mix with sleet and freezing rain, is expected to begin Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday morning, reducing visibilities at times to one-quarter to one-half mile, the NWS said.

Temperatures are also expected to drop with lows in the single digits Monday and highs reaching only the mid-20s through Wednesday.
