Martin Luther King Day in Hoboken

Three Hoboken schools will celebrate with a day of service.

While today is a day off for many workers and students, more than 200 students at three Hoboken schools are spending a "day on" in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

All Saints Episcopal Day School, Mustard Seed School and Stevens Cooperative School are teaming up for a "Day of Service." Teams of students will deliver sandwiches to the hungry and make pillows for charity, among other projects.

"This day honors Dr. King's life and legacy by engaging the children in meaningful, hands on service opportunities," said Jill Singleton, Head of All Saints School. "Our service buddies will experience first-hand the formation of community as they make new friends in service."

Each student will also learn a line from Dr. King's famous "I Have A Dream" speech to be performed at the closing ceremony.

Hoboken City Hall and all public schools are closed today.
