Carlo's Bakery Celebrates 100th Anniversary (Free Cupcakes)

Free Cupcakes, a block party and more.

Carlo's Bake Shop, home of the TLC show Cake Boss and the biggest cakes around, will be celebrating its 100-year anniversary this week. Below is a list of events you can attend to celebrate this special birthday.

June 16 (tonight)  9 p.m.: TLC is sponsoring the evening's presentation of Hoboken's "Movies Under The Stars" with a special screening of new episodes ofCAKE BOSS and an appearance by Buddy. The screening will take place at Pier A Park, and will feature—of course—free cupcakes.

June 18: TLC & Carlo's Bakery is giving the weekend a sweet start with "commuter cupcakes." A street team will be handing out more than 1,000 free Carlo's Bakery treats at the PATH station.

June 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Washington Street between Newark and First Streets will be closed off for a Cake Boss block party. From dessert decorating stations to a dunk tank—with a chance to sink Buddy himself—it'll be a family-focused opportunity to meet the Valastro's and visit Carlo's Bakery. The block party will be filmed for a future episode of Cake Boss. Valastro and Mayor Dawn Zimmer filmed a segment in front of City Hall on Tuesday for the block party episode.

According to a TLC release, there will be street banners that say "Home of the CAKEBOSS." City Council approved to re-name the corner of Washington and Newark Streets "Carlo's Bakery Way" in honor of the anniversary.

"The anniversary of Carlo's Bakery is not just a big moment for the shop, but for all of Hoboken, and there's no better way to celebrate than with all of our friends and neighbors," Valastro said in a press release. "My father had big dreams for this shop, and our 100th year, the success of Cake Boss, and the response from the community is beyond all of our wildest imaginations. Our family hopes to have a great time with all the families that come visit."
