Guitar Bar to Welcome Dylan By Attempting World Record Tribute

Support Guitar Bar's world record breaking attempt and pay tribute to Bob Dylan in advance of his concert this Friday at Pier A Park.

Jim Mastro, owner of the downtown Hoboken guitar store Guitar Bar, is calling on all of Hoboken's acoustic guitar players to converge on Sinatra Park Thursday night in an effort to honor Bob Dylan and form what he hopes will become the world's largest collection of people playing a single song — in this case, a rendition of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door."

"As you may know, Bob Dylan will be performing in Hoboken on July 26," Mastro reads in a mock newscast posted on the Guitar Bar Jr. website. "Guitar Bar figured what better way to tribute the man than to play one of his songs, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," and ask everyone to join. So bring your acoustic guitars, you're needed, and this will be a monstrous event."

Guitar Bar has been promoting the event on a Facebook events page that includes multiple YouTube videos with instructions on how to play the Dylan classic.

There were 141 confirmed guests on the Facebook event page as of Monday morning.

Following the world record attempt, the Guitar Bar All-Stars will perform a set of their favorite Dylan covers beginning at 7 p.m.
