Hoboken to Host the Fashionistas

Hoboken will host the 2nd Annual New Jersey Fashion Week.

Hoboken is about to become highly fashionable. The most fashionable city in the state of New Jersey for that matter.

The second annual New Jersey Fashion Week will open Sunday with a slate of runway shows and after-parties in Hoboken that will feature top talent in the industry including clothing designers, models and stylists. Though some of that talent will come from New York and other international fashion hot-spots, most of the participants will have roots in the Garden State.

Numerous celebrities will also make appearances, as well as at least , Mayor Dawn Zimmer. Hoboken has already hosted two promotional events for the Fashion Week, including a in March and a in June, in which the winner, designer Elena Vasilevksy, earned a spot in the Sunday slate of shows.

The first shows will take place Sunday at Hoboken's Pier A Park beginning at 1pm. Highlights of the afternoon will include shows by the Conquer men's clothing line featuring Olympic boxer Eric Kelly and reality television chef and Hoboken resident Chris Nirschel at 2pm, and 13 year-old designer Jazmin Brown displaying her line at 4pm.

Sunday night concludes with a “Fashion Carnivale” at 9pm presented by designer Eric Alt. Alt, short for Altemari, grew up in Hoboken. The carnivale will feature among others Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir and Real Housewives of New Jersey star Kim Granatell.

The shows continue at Pier A on Monday beginning at 2:30pm. The final show of the night at 7pm will feature cancer survivors strutting across the runway. New Jersey Fashion week is donating portions of its proceeds to the North Jersey chapter of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

After the Monday shows end VIP ticket holders and other invited guests will gather in a special after-party at 9pm inside the Chandelier Room at the W Hotel.

The party will continue on Tuesday with an invitation-only designers, retailers and buyers cocktail hour at the W Hotel from 4pm to 9pm.

Tickets for the carnivale and the cancer survivor walk are $100. Full day tickets for either the Sunday or Monday shows are $350. To purchase tickets visit the New Jersey Fashion Week website.
