Hoboken Library Celebrates Pride Month

The Hoboken Public Library will host special events throughout June to celebrate Pride Month.

The will celebrate Pride Month with several events throughout June, including two film screenings, a concert, and a seminar on family and estate planning.

  • The Library has invited financial planner Shawn Cowls and attorney Michael Bond to give a seminar on family planning and retirement for LGBT couples and their children. The two will discuss insurance, education and other issues. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, June 13 at 6pm.
  • Chillfest, a film series based in Jersey City that screens and promotes LGBT themed movies, documentaries and other motion pictures, will screen the HBO documentary Vito at the Hoboken Public Library on Wednesday, June 20 at 5:45pm. The documentary investigates the life of activist and author Vito Russo. John Catania and Charles Ignacio of Chillfest will moderate a discussion after the movie.
  • On Tuesday, June 26 the Library will screen the award-winning documentary Paris is Burning, about the New York drag ball scene of the 1980's. The screening will begin at 6pm.
  • Members of the Ladies on the Mic troupe from Jersey City will perform songs and read poetry and essays at the Library on Wednesday, June 27 at 6pm. Performers will include Beth Achenbach, Kailynn Barbour, Katherine Damigos, and the Aster Phoenyx Project.
