Mile Square Theatre's Fall Performance Fest Opens This Week

The Mile Square Theatre presents "Laught Out Loud (cry quietly)" and "Much Ado About Cucumbers & Cigars," as part of its Fall Performance Fest this month.

Mile Square Theatre presents two events in its upcoming Fall Performance Fest over the next two weeks at the Monroe Theatrespace, located at 720 Monroe St.

This Wednesday, MST will put on a reading of Stacie Lent’s play "Laugh Out Loud (cry quietly)," a show that Peter Filichia of TheaterMania called, “the best comedy he'd seen all year."

"Stacie’s play 'Laugh Out Loud (cry quietly)' is a hysterical look at modern dating, and we’re pleased she’s coming back after being a part of the festival last year with a sold out performance of her play 'Henry’s Law'," MST artistic director Chris O'Connor said.

Hoboken resident Sarah Weber Gallo’s dance/theatre installation, "Much Ado About Cucumbers & Cigars," which interweaves the narratives of two actual women from Hoboken, premieres next Thursday and Friday, Oct. 17 and 18.

O’Connor said he was thrilled to have Gallo's piece performed at the theatre.

“Her work will prove to be inventive and theatrical and is very different than anything else we’ve presented thus far," he said.

Tickets for next week's runs of "Much Ado About Cucumbers & Cigars," which also starts at 8 p.m., are $15 and can be purchased at the Monroe Theatrespace box office, or by calling (201) 683-7014.www.milesquaretheatre.org
