Mumford & Sons Show Biggest Event Ever at Pier A Park

The biggest event the city of Hoboken has held to date, occured without any major problems, according to multiple reviews, city officials and the Hoboken police department. 

The Mumford & Sons show attracted approximately 15,000 visitors on Wednesday night, making this the biggest concert Hoboken has ever hosted. This was the band's first concert in the Garden State.

Hoboken police described the night as "calm" and without major problems. Four people were arrested for smoking weed, according to police, but no other arrests were made. 

Crews were taking down the stage on Thursday morning, and the lawn on Pier A Park seemed in tact. The band had to put down a deposit for potential damage to the pier's grass, City Spokesman Juan Melli said. "The lawn looks great," Melli said. 

He added that the response to the event was overwhelmingly optimistic. 

The first people started lining up around 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. When the proverbial doors to the park opened at 5, a steady—well organized—stream of people entered the park.

Hoboken police was on the scene with roughly 20 officers. The organizers of the concert brought at least 100 of their own security personnel.

The Hoboken Fire Department, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Jersey City Police Department were also present. 

While impresesd with the music, the Star Ledger also praised Pier A Park in its review of the show. 

"The star of Wednesday night was Hoboken's manicured Pier A Park, which hosted its biggest event yet with grace," the article stated.
